Weight Loss Challenge: 15 Pounds in 6 Weeks (Day 2)
OMG ya’ll! I lost 1.5 pounds the first day!
I started the challenge August 3, 2016. I weighed 145.5 pounds. I weighed myself on the morning of August 4 and the scale said 144. WOO HOO!!!!! I told you it works — 1 pound a day. Amazing!
Here’s what the Fitbit dashboard looks like on my computer:
Here’s what I ate the first day…
You can see I was 63 calories under my allowed calories. This is with a daily 500 calorie deficit as my goal. Fitbit automatically limits how much you are allowed to eat in the dashboard. With the weighted vest though, you end up burning a lot more calories so you lose a LOT more than the Fitbit dashboard tells you you will (because it does not factor in the extra calories burned with the weighted vest).
I’ll talk more about this in a future post, but I NEVER limit the kinds of foods I eat when I am trying to lose weight. I eat whatever I want including, yes, cookies and Bourbon. I just don’t go over the amount of calories I’m allowed to eat. I have a lot of reasons why I do this… I’ll explain in a future post.
Oh, and that’s actually a homemade taco bowl I had for dinner… rice, beans, chicken, cheese, sour cream and hot sauce. I just estimated from a Chipotle taco bowl.
How I Lose Weight with the Fitbit and Weighted Vest
There are 3 steps to losing weight with a Fitbit and weighted vest:
1. Wear a Fitbit and get 10,000 steps a day (I recommend doing this in the morning, otherwise it’s easy to put it off).
2. Wear a weighted vest while you walk. You can start with as little as 5 or 10 pounds. I started with 15 pounds and worked my way up to 30 pounds.
3. Use the Fitbit dashboard to set your weight loss goal and calorie deficit. Enter what you eat each day and track your calories. Don’t go over the amount you are allowed to eat.
That’s it!
If you have a baby handy, you can just do babywearing instead of wearing a weighted vest. That’s how I got the idea. When Ollie was a baby last year, I was carrying him everywhere with my Tula carrier and that’s how I lost 30 pounds of baby weight in 4 months.
